SPREAD Sustainable Lifestyles

2011-2012 // Seventh Framework Programme for Research

The economic, political, environmental, social and psychological context of each person influences the habits they acquire in relation to their goods, their environment and their interpersonal relationships.

It is necessary to enable different scenarios that promote attitudes and daily behaviour towards patterns of action and consumption that promote well-being and minimise environmental and social impacts without endangering the needs of present and future generations, in each and every one of the areas of our daily lives (transport, leisure, food, home, work, etc.).

The aim of the SPREAD project - Sustainable Lifestyles 2050 - was to jointly develop a vision of the future of sustainable lifestyles for the European society in 2050. The process resulted in the co-creation of a roadmap and a research agenda with strategic actions for policy makers; and the establishment of a direct dialogue with EU Commissioners to integrate the results of the process into the definition of European policies.

Innovative techniques of multi-stakeholder dialogue, scenario building, backcasting and roadmapping integrate the co-dependencies and co-evolution of policy, technology, economic actors and society in the fields of "living", "moving", "consuming" and "society" - a cross-cutting element including health and the ageing population.

Ecoinstitut participated in the project as an expert in processes of change and sustainable lifestyles, contributing its knowledge and facilitating the participation of key agents in Spain. More information on the project website SPREAD Sustainable Lifestyles.
